Student Initiatives

Sustainable Fashion Initiative

The Sustainable Fashion Initiative is a student-centered effort to cultivate a zero-waste (circular) culture within the fashion program at the Myron E. Ullman Jr. School of Design. 

Sustainable Industrial Design Initiative

The Sustainable Industrial Design Initiative is a student-centered effort to instill the values of circular design and implement circular strategies in the Industrial Design program at DAAP. We seek to educate and inspire designers to change the way they think about Industrial Design as a connected part of the world and society.

Leaders for Environmental Awareness and Protection (LEAP)

LEAP is a student group on campus that focuses on promoting recycling, environmental awareness campaigns directed at UC students, as well as volunteering and partnering with many non-profit environmental agencies throughout Cincinnati.

Clean Up Cincy

Clean Up Cincy (CUC) is Cincinnati's largest student-led beautification program. Founded in January 2015 by a small group of motivated UC students, CUC has grown from 350 to over 1,000 volunteers each semester.

Society of Environmental Engineers

SEE is a multidisciplinary professional organization at the University of Cincinnati. They aim to connect students with the resources to make an impact in fields related to Environmental Engineering. SEE is an organization that is serving to: 
    - Connect members with professionals and each other. 
    - Educate members on current topics and trends in the industry. 
    - Prepare members by cultivating the skills needed to succeed in their professional                 careers.

Engineers Without Borders

Engineers Without Borders USA - University of Cincinnati (EWB-UC) is both a student organization at the University of Cincinnati and a chapter of EWB-USA. Since inception in 2004, they have completed various projects in Kenya, Tanzania, and across the United States. In addition to international work, they contribute locally through twice yearly Habitat for Humanity builds, frequent outreach to elementary and high schools, trash cleanups, and other Cincinnati service initiatives. Every semester, more than 40 students learn how to become better engineers and global leaders while improving the lives of thousands of people.

Net Impact UC

A leading chapter of Net Impact and a registered student organization based out of the University of Cincinnati's Center for Entrepreneurship. The Center for Entrepreneurship acts as their home-base and drives their mission to UC and beyond. Founded through the spirit of innovation they strive to inspire the UC community to champion sustainable development.

Their mission is to shift the narrative around sustainability and organizational practices to create transformative awareness in student mindsets of all disciplines at UC. Through fun, beautiful, and collaborative experiences they develop conscious leaders that understand the importance of the triple bottom line.

Walnut Hills Redevelopment Foundation

The Walnut Hills Redevelopment Foundation is a non-profit community development corporation working to enhance the quality of life in Walnut Hills.

Cincinnati Permaculture Institute

The mission of the Cincinnati Permaculture Institute is to educate individuals and organizations on Permaculture in order to catalyze a resilient culture in the Cincinnati Bioregion. Leveraging symbiotic opportunities for practical regenerative results. Their diverse community builds its’ own resilient future; one plant, one person, one community at a time.

Green Umbrella

Green Umbrella serves as the regional sustainability alliance of Greater Cincinnati, with hundreds of member organizations and individuals passionate about enhancing the environmental health and vitality of our region. 
 
Their mission is to lead collaboration, incubate ideas and catalyze solutions that create a resilient, sustainable region for all. And their vision is a vibrant community where sustainability is woven into our ways of life.
