First-Year Student Scholarships

Thanks to the generosity of numerous alumni and friends of the college, scholarships are available to students in the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning.


DAAP Scholarship Committee will review all eligible students for first-year scholarships. Students who submit a completed admissions application by December 1 will be considered for scholarships. 

Only scholarships marked with an asterisk (*) have separate applications processes. Please view the scholarship’s description for more information. For maximum scholarship consideration, students should submit FAFSA information to UC.

First-Year Student Scholarships

The scholarship is presented to an outstanding student entering the Communication Design program.

Scholarships are based on a combination of financial need and academic record, with emphasis on financial need. Special consideration and priority will be given to female and minority students, and/or underrepresented college populations.

It is highly recommended that students submit the FAFSA to UC in order to prove financial need.

This fund was created to provide a scholarship to a student entering their first year in the School of Planning.

The recipient must have demonstrated financial need.

Preference will be given to a student with a diverse background, based upon factors including, but not limited to, socio-economic status, parental education, cultural awareness, and history of overcoming adversity.

The Kristi A. Nelson First Year Scholarship in Art History for incoming art history majors. Eligible recipients will be confirmed incoming undergraduate art history majors in the School of Art at DAAP. Students with financial need will be given preference.

This scholarship is to support an incoming freshman student of the highest academic caliber studying in Communication Design.

This scholarship was created to provide support to a student studying fashion design in DAAP. Preference will be given to an incoming student from the Greater Cincinnati region who demonstrates financial need. 

This fund was established in honor of Professor Margaret Voelker-Ferrier and is to provide scholarship funds for an incoming fashion design freshman. The recipient must have a minimum 3.2 GPA and demonstrate financial need.

This scholarship was created to support first year students majoring in Communication Design.

This scholarship was established to benefit an undergraduate DAAP student studying communication design who has shown scholastic achievement, with a 3.2 GPA or higher cumulative grade point average and has demonstrated financial need. Preference shall be given to an incoming first-year student.

This fund was established to provide scholarship support for an undergraduate student studying architecture at DAAP. Eligible students will have a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrated financial need. Preference will be given to incoming students and to students from Indiana.

This fund provides scholarships to students studying Fashion Design in DAAP. One scholarship will be given to an incoming student in the Fashion Design program each year. The recipient needs to have a minimum 3.2 GPA and must have demonstrated financial need.

The purpose of this gift is to provide meaningful scholarship support for a deserving student studying in the College of DAAP. The scholarship may be awarded to an incoming student based on merit and/or financial need. Preference will be given to students studying architecture or fine arts.

This scholarship was established to support an incoming freshman who will be a full-time student in DAAP.

The student must have a high school GPA of 3.3 or higher and demonstrate financial need. A holistic approach will be used to determine the recipient, with consideration in the areas of academic merit, athletic participation, and extracurricular activities.

Preference will be given to students studying Fashion Design, Interior Design, Architecture, Art Education, or Art History. Preference will also be given to students who graduate from one of the following high schools: Dater, Elder, Gamble, Harrison, Oak Hills, Seton, Taylor and Western Hills.

This is a portfolio-based scholarship available to entering freshmen in the Bachelor of Fine Arts program or the Pre-Fine Art program.

Eligibility and Application Process
Students admitted into the Fine Arts program will be invited to submit an application in ScholarshipUniverse during Spring semester.
