Art History involves the historical interpretation and visual analysis of painting, sculpture, architecture, and other forms of visual art. Art historians view the work of art as an embodiment of the values of its time and place of origin, and are experts on the lives of artists as well as the forms, traditions, and theoretical context of the visual arts.
The Bachelor of Arts in Art History is a four-year critical thinking program that provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the history of art and its impact on society. Students have the opportunity to participate in co-op, complete internships in museums and galleries, study a foreign language, and take a variety of liberal arts electives to develop analytical, speaking, writing, and thinking skills that are highly valued in the modern workplace.
The skills developed through DAAP's Bachelor of Arts in Art History program are highly valued by employers in a variety of fields, including the arts, education, cultural heritage, and museums. Graduates may pursue careers as art historians, museum curators, art critics, or in related fields. They may also choose to continue their education by pursuing a Master's or PhD in Art History.
I have been constantly encouraged to step out of my comfort zone and grow as both a student and individual. I will always be grateful to each of my fantastic mentors and teachers — who have always demonstrated an inspiring passion for the field and deep devotion to students.

Co-op Program
Art History majors have the option to participate in the UC Co-op Program. Students have the opportunity to work full-time in museums, galleries, and cultural institutions for 2 full semesters during their studies to build their professional experience and resume.
Study Abroad
Study abroad is known for being a "life-changing" experience, but studies have shown there are real and tangible benefits to study abroad. In addition to personal growth, students report that study abroad positively affects their academics as well as their career prospects after graduation. The Art History program offers study abroad experiences in Paris, Rome, Florence, and London.
Scholarships and Financial Resources
Thanks to the generosity of numerous alumni and friends of the college, scholarships are available to students in the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning.
