Born in Washington, D.C., artist Lauren Henkin graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis and now resides in Maine.

Her work for the last two decades has focused on how we occupy and relate to space, the built and constructed form and our surrounding landscape. She is currently preparing for her largest exhibition to date, "Props," which will open at the Contemporary Arts Center Cincinnati in late November. The works presented will utilize spaces within the building that have never shown art before. The exhibition is organized by CAC and curated by Steven Matijcio, Director and Chief Curator at the Blaffer Art Museum at the University of Houston.

Henkin's work resides in many institutional collections including Cleveland Museum of Art, Amon Carter Museum of American Art, Portland Art Museum, High Museum of Art, and more. Yale University has the largest collection of her work at 160+ pieces.

She is also the founder of Vela Noche, a publisher of fine press books and editions.
