The Honorable Angus King Jr. Former Governor of the State of Maine

Angus King jr.

Angus S. King, Jr. became Governor of Maine in 1995, a position he held until 2003. King lists among his major accomplishments as governor a total rebuild of the state's mental health and corrections systems; major improvements in the state's service capability, including on-line services; a substantial increase in the state's commitment to research and development; the largest increase of lands in conservation in the state's history; and the nationally-recognized program that provides a laptop computer to every seventh and eighth grade student in the state, regardless of location or family income, making Maine's students among the most computer literate in the world.

Larry Johnson is Chief Executive Officer of the New Media Consortium (NMC), an international consortium of more than 250 world-class universities, colleges, museums, research centers, and technology companies dedicated to using new technologies to inspire, energize, stimulate, and support learning and creative expression. He is an acknowledged expert on the effective application of new media in many contexts, and has worked extensively to build common ground among museums and universities across North America and in more than a dozen other countries.

Chad Wick, President and CEO, KnowledgeWorks Foundation

Chad Wick leads KnowledgeWorks Foundation in its mission to increase the number and diversity of people who value and access public education. As the founding president and CEO, he has led the Foundation to achieve this mission by providing not only seed grants and operating funds, but extensive technical assistance and training that promotes and supports sustainable, system-wide changes.
