Recent Work
Ellen Guerrettaz became a registered architect in Indiana in 1987, Ohio in 1997, and a member of NCARB in 1996. Between graduation with the professional degree from Ball State in 1979 and commencing the post-professional degree in 1999-2001, she interwove private practice, community service, and teaching in Vincennes, IN and Cincinnati, OH. Places of work have included: architectural intern at james associates and Campus Planning & Development; registered architect at donovan & donovan associates (IN); principal at Myszak & Associates (IN); tenured associate professor at Vincennes University; planner in the Offices of the University Architect (UC). Building projects have ranged from residential to retail to prisons to healthcare to educational facilities. While completing the MSArch degree in SAID/DAAP, Ellen also taught architectural history, graphics, design, and technology full-time as a visiting professor of Architectural Engineering Technology in UC's College of Applied Science as well as design at Vincennes University via distance education. Her interests and experiences have been broad, ranging from applications of design and tectonics to production to programming and planning to more theoretical inquiry of all of the above. While she enjoys the service aspects of her current administrative role, she looks forward to increased intellectual challenge in the foreseeable future. As an additional note, Ellen and her engineer husband Tom are raising (designing) a family with 8 children. In this role Ellen has even served as a sub at the middle school level!
