Course Description:

Elementz, Urban Arts Center, is a local not-for-profit arts organization whose core mission is to serve as a catalyst for change for Cincinnati’s inner-city youth. Founded and supported by a diverse array of community leaders and stakeholders who believe in the power of music, poetry and art to change lives, Elementz teaches, champions and represents Hip-Hop culture in Cincinnati.
The exploration of the tenets of Hip-Hop through the design-build and rapid prototyping process is core to the collaboration between MetroLAB and Elementz. The aim is to have the art form of Hip-Hop play a central role in the pedagogy of the studio as well as serve as ambassador with the objective to foster relationships that will allow each student group to learn and appreciate the training and talents of the other, and in doing so, form a bond that could forge community, inspire empathy, and sponsor lasting change.
