Brooke C Brandewie

Brooke Brandewie is an Assistant Professor of Fashion Design in the College of Design, Architecture, Art & Planning (DAAP). She teaches applied trend research and analysis, design research, entrepreneurship, and fashion design development. She has an extensive interdisciplinary professional design and research portfolio working with clients in healthcare, beauty, personal care, travel, and consumer product sectors. She has facilitated design and trend workshops both nationally and internationally for design professionals as well as students in both K-12 and higher education. A trend research methodology that she co-developed with Emerita Professor Margaret Voelker-Ferrier was published in The Fashion Project: Exploring Critical Issues 7th Global Conference digital publication. Her work has been exhibited at the Urban Institute for Contemporary Art in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She was also a Fulbright Awards alternate candidate in 2014.
Her current research examines the trend research process, as it relates to the enhancement of students’ engagement, learning and design outcomes in global interdisciplinary and cross-cultural settings. Additionally, she leads an ongoing collaborative project with Professor Injoo Kim, focusing on the enhancement of the fit system for medical wear to improve comfort, performance and efficiency.
