Admission Information 2008-2009

UC is now accepting applications for Fall 2008. Students may apply online at the Office of Admissions website.

High school applicants - which refers to students who have not yet attended a college or university (except for post-secondary credit earned while enrolled in high school) - to Digital Design, Fashion Design, Graphic Design, and Industrial Design must have completed or be in the process of completing:

  • 4 units of college prep English
  • 3 units of college prep math
  • 2 units of social studies
  • 2 units of science
  • 2 units of one language
  • 1 unit of fine arts
  • 2 additional college prep subjects

Academic Credentials

The academic credentials of the pool of applicants seeking admission to the School of Design vary each year. The design programs are highly competitive and have a limited number of spaces available.

The freshman class profile for the School of Design is based on the middle 50% of the 2006 entering freshman class:

  • GPA: 3.55 - 3.91 (4.00 scale)
  • ACT score: 25 - 28
  • SAT score: 1130 - 1280 (Critical Reading and Math)
  • average class rank: top 20%

Priority Application Deadline

Applicants who submit a complete application by 5:00 PM on November 15, 2007 will be pooled and reviewed for selection in December, then notified of selection decisions by December 31, 2007. Please do not call prior to this date regarding a decision on your application. Applications received after November 15 may be considered on a space available basis.

Application Requirements

A high school admissions application is considered to be complete when the Office of Admissions has received the following documentation:

  • an application for admission, including a personal statement and statement of co-curricular activities

Note Consideration of the applicants' personal statements and statements of co-curricular activities will be factored into the admissions decisions.

  • an official high school transcript
  • the results of either the ACT or SAT (including the Writing Component)
  • official college transcripts for those students who are enrolled in courses for post-secondary credit
  • a $40 application fee

Transfer Applicants

Students seeking to transfer from other colleges and programs at UC or another regionally accredited university or college must have at least a 3.00 cumulative grade point average in previous college work to be considered for admission. For priority consideration, complete transfer applications should be received by March 1, 2008 for the following autumn quarter.

Application Requirements

A transfer admissions application is considered to be complete when the Office of Admissions has received the following documentation:

  • application for admission
  • official transcript(s) from allcolleges/universities attended
  • official high school transcript
  • ACT or SAT test scores (if fewer than 90 quarter hours/60 semester hours of college credit completed)
  • portfolio (only for students transferring from other architecture or design programs)
  • $40 application fee

Computer Requirements

Most incoming students at DAAP are required to purchase laptop computers. We have arranged specific configurations for each program that best suits the coursework you will be taking. For detailed information, please see a complete list of computer requirements for all programs.
