Speaking of new, the changes to our academic calendar (which is now semester-based) have pushed some of DAAP's most iconic events forward several weeks -- as the final week of classes is now in mid-April instead of early June. That means that DAAPworks, our annual exhibition of graduating students' final projects, as well as our popular DAAP Fashion Show sponsored by Macy's, are coming up fast. In addition, our traditional Scholarship Benefactors Event, where we celebrate and recognize the generosity of those who make education possible for some of our most talented students is now less than a month away!
Here are the key dates to keep in mind as you think spring:
Thursday, March 7 -- Scholarship Benefactors Event
Tuesday, April 23 through Saturday, April 27 -- DAAPworks
Friday, April 26 -- DAAP Fashion Show
We are also looking forward to Alumni Reunion Weekend, which takes place April 12-14. This year, we welcome the classes of 1988 (25 years), 1978 (35 years), and 1963 (50 years) back to campus to reconnect with the University and with one another. Volunteers from these class years are still needed who wish to plan events that will be meaningful to their class, as well as the specific discipline attending the reunion (for example, architecture alumni can plan events just for fellow architecture alums, etc).
If you are interested in fulfilling this vital role, please contact Laura Johnson-Dorl at 513-556-1211 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Sincerely, Robert Probst
Be a Part of History... Twice!
As reported in recent media coverage, UC is getting closer to reaching its billion-dollar goal in the Proudly Cincinnati Campaign -- an unprecedented fundraising effort that only a few dozen universities have ever achieved. Your donation to DAAP during the campaign's final stretch has the power to push us beyond the billion-dollar milestone and make a real difference in the lives of students and faculty.
For instance, thanks to the generosity of our alumni and industry partners, recent gifts to the DAAP Discretionary Fund have enabled the phase one completion of our cutting-edge Digital Fabrication Student Lab! This new area is just the beginning of a larger upgrade, and you can support the next phase of construction by donating to the DAAP Discretionary Fund today.
If you have yet to make a donation to the campaign, your support will also move us closer to reaching another major milestone before June 30: 100,000 campaign donors. Through January 31, more than 91,500 supporters had made a gift to Proudly Cincinnati, which means we're closer than ever to reaching two remarkable goals.
We need the help of the entire UC community to get us there, so join in and be part of UC's success!
