School of Design Scholarships

Thanks to the generosity of numerous alumni and friends of the college, scholarships are available to students in the School of Design.

The School of Design scholarship process is online. Submitting FAFSA information is required for those scholarships that are based on financial need.

The DAAP college-wide and school specific scholarship application is closed. We will begin accepting applications in the spring of 2019 for the 2019-2020 school year. More information regarding dates and deadlines will be available in the spring.

School of Design Scholarships

The Natalie Altieri Scholarship

This fund was established to assist a full-time Fashion Design student with expenses associated with a co-op placement outside of the Cincinnati metropolitan area.

The Sallie Baldwin Endowed Graphic Communications Scholarship

This scholarship was established to benefit an undergraduate DAAP student studying communication design who has demonstrated academic ability, with a 3.2 GPA or higher cumulative average and financial need.

Lois Lynn Budde Scholarship and Educational Travel Fund

The family established this scholarship in honor of Lois Lynn Budde Dougherty who died from AIDS at a very early age. With this award, the family wishes to make visible to students the consequences of AIDS – a largely preventable disease, affecting all segments of the population, including heterosexual women.

Evelyn G. and Charles L. Burgoyne Scholarship Fund

This renewable scholarship is to support a student majoring in fashion design. Students will continue to receive the scholarship each year provided they continue to remain a student in good academic standing in Fashion.

Adam A. Clapp Memorial Scholarship Fund

In recognition and remembrance of former DAAP student, Adam A Clapp, this scholarship was created to recognize a student studying Communication Design that demonstrates the values that Adam embodied during his lifetime: perseverance, determination, poise, integrity, courage, endurance, and humor.

Bob Clark Scholarship

A scholarship has been created in honor of Bob Clark , who generously advised the donor as she established a business designed to benefit America's Wildland Firefighters. The donor wishes to acknowledge Mr. Clark's contribution by making this award available to a student in DAAP, from which his son graduated. Students in the third or pre-junior year of programs in the School of Design and School of Art are eligible for this $1,000 award. To be considered, students must be in good standing and have demonstrated financial need.

The Ellen Garner Memorial Scholarship was established to provide meaningful scholarship support for a pre-junior student in the fashion design program in the School of Design.

Graphic Communication Design First-Year Scholarship

The scholarship is presented to an outstanding student entering the Graphic Communication Design program. Scholarships are based on a combination of financial need and academic record, with emphasis on financial need.

Jay Ott Endowed Memorial Scholarship

The purpose of the Jay Ott Memorial Scholarship is to reward students who demonstrate the values most important to Jay. Jay was a lifelong learner with acute self-awareness who knew at an early age that he would become a fashion designer. He had a reverence for contemporary and historical designers, and studied both with unparalleled dedication. While at DAAP, Jay inspired his teachers and peers with his elegant aesthetic, his ability to provide perceptive and thoughtful feedback to other students, and his ability to apply his knowledge of art and design history. Throughout his successful career as a designer in NYC, Jay continued to inspire and support DAAP faculty and students through friendship, his role as a guest critic, and providing co-op opportunities at the companies he worked. The values Jay embodied and encouraged in others include intelligence, curiosity, integrity, empathy, diligence, humor and compassion.

  • Exhibits eagerness to learn and to improve as a designer.
  • Offers original and thought provoking solutions to course assignments.
  • Executes their ideas with integrity and attention to detail.
  • Dedicated to improvement and experimentation in communication of ideas, including 2dimensional form.
  • Exhibits depth in inspiration and thought process backed up by research across disciplines.
  • Demonstrates awareness of their personal strengths, identity and goals as a designer.
  • Demonstrates mentorship, collaboration and working as a constructive team member and invests time in supporting peers.

Requirements:
In addition to the DAAP scholarship application requirements, you must also submit a 10 Page Process Journal and/or Design Diary for one to three project(s) that demonstrates the criteria for this scholarship. The process within this journal must have been created during your time as a student at DAAP. You may use any medium or combination of mediums to express and communicate your creative process work including written notes, collages, sketches, photos, etc. This journal should focus on documenting the way you learn, work, find inspiration, translate your world-view, and make fashion design decisions.

Institute of Packaging Professionals Scholarship

The Institute of Packaging Professionals (IoPP) is proud to offer academic scholarships to recognize exceptional college students headed for a career in packaging. The scholarships have been created to support packaging education and to raise awareness of packaging as a career choice. The scholarships are funded by founding supporters, including the Minnesota, Texas and Chicago IoPP chapters and IoPP benefactor companies. As an added bonus, the top talent identified through this program will be shared with IoPP Benefactor companies as a recruiting tool for their organizations.
