Terry M Grundy
Terry Grundy is Director of Community Impact at United Way of Greater Cincinnati, where he organizes broad coalitions and partnerships for community development and manages a multi-million dollar portfolio of investments in non-profit organizations involved in community building activities. He also manages the United Way's social research efforts and provides leadership in the development of United Way's biennial report, "The State of the Community," and its occasional environmental scans. Grundy is founder or co-founder of the Community Research Collaborative (a partnership of UC and United Way), the Community Building Institute (a partnership of United Way and Xavier University), the Greater Cincinnati Microenterprise Initiative, Community Investment Partners, and place matters (a comprehensive community development initiative in three strategically important Cincinnati area neighborhoods). In addition to his faculty appointment in the School of Planning, Grundy is affiliated faculty in the Department of Political Science and the University Honors program. He is on the faculty of the Asset-Based Community Development Institute at Northwestern University and provides training and consultation around the United States to groups interested in promoting asset-based community development in their areas. In addition, he is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and is Resident Urbanist at UC's Niehoff Urban Studio. Grundy has taken an active role in civic affairs in the Cincinnati area, having served as president of the Cincinnatus Association, the International Visitors Center, the Cincinnati Branch of the English Speaking Union, and the Cincinnati-Liuzhou Sister City Committee. He has served on the boards of many civic, charitable and cultural organizations as well. He received his B.A. degree from Xavier University and his M.A. from the Athenaeum of Ohio and has pursued post-graduate studies at Cambridge University. He is married to the former Jodine Grantham, a psychotherapist and life coach and together they have three grown children and three grandchildren. Terry and Jody are members of the University Club of Cincinnati, the Royal Over-Seas League of London and Edinburgh, the Victory Services Club of London, and the English Speaking Unions of both the United States and the Commonwealth.
