Title: Professor Emeritus
As a Fine Art's faculty member in the School of Art, Professor Williams' teaching responsibilities usually occur in Printmaking where he serves as area coordinator. His recent creative work consists of large format monotypes, which employ a variety of found material in the printing process. The hybrid forms, created from these found objects and their unusual shapes and surface qualities recorded in ink on paper, acknowledge the rich vitality of life found in the man-made and natural environment. On another level, the metaphoric terrain of these images explores the mystery and ambiguity of the inter-play between man and nature. Monotypes from this body of work have been shown in regional and national exhibitions. Recent professional activity includes service as one of the co-coordinators of the 1998 Pressing Issues Conference of the Mid-American Print Council held in Cincinnati. Professor Williams is the Interim Director of the School of Art.
