Morgan Thomas received a PhD in art history from the University of Sydney in 2003. Her research investigates topics in modern and contemporary international art and film and media studies, with a focus on critical theory and aesthetics. Her publications include contributions to Law and the Visual (University of Toronto Press, forthcoming) How Aborigines Invented the Idea of Contemporary Art (Power Publications/University of Washington Press), The Fall of the Studio: Artists at Work (Valiz), Crossing Cultures: Conflict, Migration, Convergence (University of Melbourne Publishing), and Rothko (Tate). She was co-editor and co-translater of Jean-François Lyotard's The Postmodern Explained (University of Minnesota Press). With Aaron Cowan, she co-curated exhibition Liquid Light: Joseph Marioni, at the Reed Gallery, University of Cincinnati, in 2013. She serves on the editorial board of Reading Room: A Journal of Art and Culture. She is also a member of the Executive Board of the Center for Film and Media Studies at the University of Cincinnati.
