Frank Herrmann is a Professor of Fine Arts in the School of Art in the College of Design Architecture, Art and Planning at the University of Cincinnati where he teaches undergraduate and graduate painting. He holds a BA in Painting from Western Kentucky University and an MFA in Painting from the University of Cincinnati. He has shown his work in venues in Hong Kong, Ghana, Africa, Siatama, Japan, and Prague Czech Republic and throughout the United States. His paintings have been placed in numerous private, corporate and public collections. In 2001, he began to focus on Asmat themes in his painting during his stay at the Cimilice Castle Residency in the Czech Republic, where he was able to access collections of Asmat work in Europe.  His work has been recognized by individual artist fellowships from the Ohio Arts Council, Summerfair Inc and Arts Midwest NEA. In 2006 he was awarded a John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship in Visual Arts. His most recent exhibition of paintings was at Tregoning & Co. Gallery, Cleveland, Ohio 10/10-4/11. This exhibition presented thirty-seven paintings along with Asmat artifacts and printed material from the Herrmann collection and most recently in Six Contemporary Masters. Darby Fine Arts, Vero Beach, Florida, 10/ 2011. A hardbound book titled Frank Herrmann Paintings 1999-2009 accompanies these exhibitions. Frank continues to pursue his painting practice in Cincinnati, Ohio.
