High school and transfer students can apply here for the 2013-2014 academic year. Only online applications will be accepted.

Due to the sequential nature of the curriculum, students are only accepted for the Fall Semester. Portfolios are not a component of the DAAP/UC application process.

Though there is not an application deadline for high school students, students who apply by December 1, 2012 will receive maximum scholarship consideration.  This program will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis; it is recommended that interested high school students apply as soon as possible. For transfer and transition students, the priority deadline is March 1, 2013.

Academic Credentials

The academic credentials of applicants seeking admission to the School of Art vary each year. The freshman class profile for the School of Art is based on the middle 50% of the 2012 entering freshman class:

• GPA: 3.228 – 3.737
• ACT: 23 - 27
• SAT: 1040 – 1200
• Average Class Rank: Top 25.6%

We share these numbers to give you an idea of the "typical" credentials of students accepted into our programs. Scoring within this range (or outside of it) is not a guarantee of admission or denial.

Transfer students typically have GPAs that are well above the required minimum of 2.5.

Pre-Art

The Pre-Art program provides an alternative means for entry into the Bachelor of Fine Arts program. Students do not apply directly to Pre-Art; they are placed in the program on the strength of their application and academic credentials. Pre-Art students take the same curriculum as students in the Fine Arts program. At the end of the first year, they must qualify for admission into the Fine Arts program on the basis of their academic performance and they must successfully pass a portfolio review.

Application Components for High School Students

The application for the University of Cincinnati and DAAP are one in the same. A high school admissions application is considered to be complete when the Office of Admissions has received the following documentation:

• an application for admission, including a personal statement, essay and statement of co-curricular activities
• an official high school transcript
• the results of either the ACT or SAT (including the Writing Component) directly from the testing company
• official college transcripts for those students who are enrolled in courses for post-secondary credit
• $50 application fee
• letter(s) of recommendation

Portfolios are not a component of the UC/DAAP application process. Once students have been accepted to the Fine Arts program, they will be invited to submit a portfolio for scholarship consideeration.

Priority Deadline for High School Students

On a rolling admission (first-come, first-served) basis, high school applicants will be offered admission if they satisfy the minimum admission standards and have submitted a complete application until the program is full. It is recommended that students apply by December 1 for maximum scholarship consideration. High School Course Requirements

High school applicants to the School of Art must have completed or be in the process of completing:

• 4 units of English
• 4 units of math
• 3 units of science
• 5 units of electives*

*Elective units must include one or any combination of foreign language, fine arts, business, career-technical education, family and consumer sciences, technology, agricultural education or additional core courses not otherwise required.

Transfer Students

Those seeking admission from other programs or colleges at UC or other universities must have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA from previous college work to be given consideration.  For priority consideration, completed transfer applications should be submitted prior to March 1 for admission the following fall.

Transfer Application Components

Transfer students can apply at http://www.admissions.uc.edu. A transfer application is considered complete when the Office of Admissions has received the following documentation:

• application for admission
• official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended
• official high school transcript and ACT or SAT scores if the applicant has completed fewer than 45 quarter hours or 30 semester hours of college credit,
• $50 application fee

Transfer students to the School of Art are generally admitted into the foundation program. After an offer of admission, students seeking advanced standing should schedule an appointment and portfolio review with the coordinator of their specific program.

"Transition" Application Components

Current UC students wishing to transition into a DAAP program should submit an Application for Change in College and/or Program to the DAAP Student Affairs Office in Room 5470 Aronoff. This form is available here, in the DAAP Student Affairs Office or in any college office on campus.

Current DAAP students hoping to transfer into a different major must submit a "Change of Program" form to the DAAP Student Affairs Office.  This form is available here or in the DAAP Student Affairs Office. 

Priority Deadline for Transfer and Transition Students

The priority deadline for transfer and transition students is March 1, 2013. Applications received after this date will be considered on a space available basis.

International Students

For international freshman, the admissions process for Fine Arts operates on a rolling admission (first-come, first-served) basis. Applicants will be offered admission if they satisfy the minimum admission standards and have submitted a complete application until the program is full. Applications for international transfer students must be received by March 1, 2013 for the 2013-2014 academic year.
