Born in Jonesboro, Arkansas in 1980 and grew up in Plano, Texas. From 1999 to 2003 she attended the Kansas City Art Institute and received a BFA in ceramics. Two years later, Katie received an MFA from the The Ohio State University. She is currently an assistant professor of Fine Arts at the University of Cincinnati, College of Design, Art, Architecture, and Planning, where she heads the ceramics program. Most recently Katie was the recipient of an Individual Artist Grant from the City of Cincinnati, as well an Ohio Arts Grant in Collaborative Design. For several years, Katie has been collaborating with Guy Michael Davis, creating objects that combine new technology, porcelain, and good craft. These pieces have been exhibited around the country and the world, including New York; Philadelphia; Kansas City; Dubai, United Arab Emirates; Toronto, Canada; and Kortrijk, Belgium.
