Kristi Nelson
Kristi Nelson serves as the Sr. Vice Provost for Academic Planning at the University of Cincinnati. In this position she has primary responsibility for ensuring that academic planning is an integrated process and takes into consideration academic objectives, fiscal resources, and physical space. She is currently serving as the chair of the institution’s UC 2019 strategic planning implementation team. She chairs the Academic Committee (AC), and serves as a member of the Fiscal Coordinating Committee (FCC) and the President’s Budget Advisory Committee (BC). She provides oversight for both institutional and specialized accreditation and serves as the University’s point person to the Ohio Board of Regents (OBR) for new programs and transfer and articulation (TAGs). Institutional Research and the Institute for Policy Research report to her. She has been instrumental in establishing a women’s leadership program at UC along with other women leaders on campus. She holds the Ph.D. degree in Art History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an undergraduate degree from Florida State University. Prior to joining the Provost Office she served as Associate Dean in the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP), and she continues to teach on occasion in the College, especially study abroad classes. She serves as the President for the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD). She also served as State Co-coordinator for the Ohio Women’s Network and on several committees with
the College Art Association (CAA). Her specialty in Art History is in the area of Early Modern Dutch and Flemish Art; she has published Jacob Jordaens: Design for Tapestry and curated and wrote the catalogue for Dutch Drawings and Watercolors from the Kharkiv Museum of Art which was exhibited at the Taft Museum of Art in Cincinnati.
