Advising

What is academic advising?

Academic advising is a process in which students and academic advisors work together in order to achieve the student’s educational and personal goals. Typically in individual meetings, the student and the advisor collaborate to create a broad understanding of program/major requirements and university and DAAP policies and procedures, as well as to develop course schedules in order to fulfill degree requirements and student interests. Academic advisors can also identify additional campus and community resources as needed to enhance the student’s tenure, both personally and academically, at UC.

Who is my advisor?

The academic advisors in the DAAP Student Affairs office (5470 Aronoff) serve as your primary point of contact for academic and personal questions. They serve as key component your personal support system, working with you towards a successful and fulfilling program at UC.

Academic advisors are assigned to students based on academic area. You can schedulde an appointment with your advisor by using the Starfish application on Blackboard or by calling DAAP Student Affairs at 513-556-1376.
