Professor Mulligan is the coordinator of First Year Studies in fine art. His primary research project is the Hero Design Company, a program that combines art therapy with design thinking serving underprivileged children and patients and families at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and Ronald McDonald House. His most recent commissioned work for the Contemporary Art Center of Cincinnati is an integrated accessibility putt-putt course with therapeutic elements designed to make gestures to the sensory processing disorder and autism community. His sophomore research studio combines social practice and research. This class has produced artwork for a pediatric ICU of Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and has collaborated with adult artists with disabilities who work through Visionaries and Voices of Cincinnati. Exhibitions include the Baltimore Contemporary Museum of Art, Indianapolis Museum of Contemporary Art, the University of Central Arkansas, the University of Maine at Augusta, Bradley University, and the Delaware Center for Contemporary Art.
